What is the Robert Bateman Get to Know Fund?
We are proud Partners of the Robert Bateman Get to Know Fund. This fund creates environmental awareness and promotes responsible use of the Earth's resources. Partial proceeds from the sale of our Dockside Cabin and our Log Cabin Birdhouse go to support this worthwhile foundation.
Does the kit contain all the parts needed to complete the cabin?
Yes. All Log Cabin kits contain all the materials and instructions needed to make the cabin. All of our kits with the exception of the Christmas Tree Cabin contain a bottle of non-toxic white glue with an easy dispensing re-sealable tip for neat and convenient assembly.
What type of wood is used?
Our Log Cabin kits are made from Douglas Fir, Hemlock and Western Red Cedar. All the wood is local to British Columbia and most is reclaimed waste wood from other industries such as door manufacturing. We pride ourselves on using local and renewable materials as much as possible so we can offer our customers a truly authentic and environmentally friendly Canadian product. There is no finish applied to our parts so it is non-toxic and safe for everyone.
How can I keep my Log Cabin Toys looking great for years?
The roof is made of cedar and the bodies of the cabins are all made from hemlock and fir. Both hemlock and fir are naturally resistant to darkening with exposure to light. While all wood darkens over time with exposure to sunlight, hemlock and fir often remains true to its original colour. For dusting, a light damp cloth will work well however, if you do wish to add a protector hemlock and fir readily accepts finishes ranging from clear coatings, transparent lacquer, varnishes, oils, or wax to a full selection of stains and paints.
Do you offer discounts to organizations, institutions and clubs?
Yes. Log Cabin Toys purchased for a school, daycare or other educational institution are eligible for a discount. We also offer discounts to hospitals, senior centers, assisted living, scouts, sports teams, summer camps and non profit organizations. (Minimum quantities apply).
