The Sugar Shack log cabin replicates the Cabane a Sucre of Eastern Canada where sap is transformed into delicious Canadian Maple syrup. The miniature Sugar Shack comes complete with a detailed door, wooden framed windows, roof vent, flag, engraved canoe, tree and bucket as well as non-toxic white glue for safe and convenient assembly. Hang the bucket on the tree just like the maple syrup makers do to collect the sap.

A sugar shack is very important to the process of making maple syrup. Typically small in size and very rustic in nature, these shacks were part of every maple syrup operation. They are found all over Quebec because this place contributes three quarters of the world’s production of maple syrup. In fact, you can still come across an old fashioned sap house, as they are also known, very close to Quebec. Needless to say, their main purpose is very different these days.

A sugar shanty is a great place to get a good feel of the history of this rugged part of the world. What makes the average sugar shack even more interesting is that it is a slice of history that is not dry and boring but very much alive and vibrant. The experience that you get at one of these places is unmatched because it is completely unique.
